The Amphorae Museum is formed by specimen, whose provenance is the Mediterranean sea - bed, gathered on board by boats from S.Benedetto del Tronto over a long period of time; the majority of them was offered by doctor Giovanni Perotti's family and Perotti himself who finally gave the Municipality his collection as a donation. About 200 specimen of different shape, size and value are gathered and exhibited here, some of them are indeed very ancient and rare. This collection is almost unique in Italy and testifies the art of ancient civilizations (Phoenicians, ancient Palestinians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans) who used them, but it also enhances the sailors' skill from S.Benedetto del Tronto who used to carry on their hard and dangerous work along the whole Mediterranean basin.
