Importante cittadina della riviera marchigiana, attivissimo centro peschereccio e una delle maggiori stazioni balneari del medio Adriatico, San Benedetto del Tronto, situata tra i fiumi Tesino a nord e Tronto a sud, possiede una lunga spiaggia di sabbia finissima e bianca che degrada dolcemente nel mare, caratterizzato da bassi fondali.

Il lungomare si distingue per la ricca vegetazione, formata essenzialmente da innumerevoli palmizi che crescono anche sulla spiaggia. Per questa sua peculiarità San Benedetto è indicata anche come la ''Riviera delle palme''.

La consistenza ricettiva, tra esercizi alberghieri, appartamenti e campeggi, è notevole: San Benedetto del Tronto vanta oltre 120 esercizi tra alberghi e residence per una disponibilità di circa 8 mila posti letto ai quali si aggiungono i 13 mila degli appartamenti privati.

Numerosi sono gli impianti sportivi ele attività legate alla presenza del mare come il porto turistico edil Circolo nautico.

San Benedetto rappresenta la prima realtà turistica delle Marche, con oltre 2 milioni di presenze all'anno. San Benedetto del Tronto is an active fishing centre and one of the most important tourist resorts on the Middle Adriatic coast. It is located in the south of  Marche Region between the Tronto and Tesino rivers and it is characterized by a long beach of fine white sand that gently slopes into the sea. Its shallow water is ideal for long walks and for children fun.

The seapromenade, one of the most enchantable in Italy, is characterized by a lush vegetation, consisting of so many palmtrees that also grow on the beach. For this peculiarity, San Benedetto is also known as ''the Palm trees Riviera''.
