Progetto CREW, città italiane e croate si danno appuntamento a San Benedetto
E’ in programma per i giorni 13 e 14 novembre a San Benedetto del Tronto il terzo meeting delle città partner di CREW, acronimo che sta per “Coordinated Wetland management in Italy-Croatia cross border region”, ovvero il progetto, inserito nell’ambito del programma comunitario “Interreg V - A Italy - Croatia” che punta ad assicurare un maggiore coordinamento tra i diversi livelli di pianificazione territoriale e le autorità preposte alla gestione delle zone umide presenti nei due Paesi che si affacciano sull’Adriatico.
I partner del progetto che si riuniranno a San Benedetto rappresentano realtà che possiedono nel loro territorio zone umide meritevoli di essere tutelate all’interno dei contesti urbani in cui sorgono: sono le contee croate dell'Istria, di Zara e di Dubrovnik, l’Unione Territoriale Intercomunale della Bassa Riviera Friulana, la Provincia di Barletta – Andria – Trani e, appunto, il Comune di San Benedetto del Tronto con la sua Riserva Sentina. Il tutto con il coordinamento dell'Università IUAV di Venezia.
Il programma si aprirà mercoledì 13 novembre con una visita delle delegazioni ospiti a Verrucchio, in Romagna, dove conosceranno l’esperienza del contratto di fiume del Marecchia, il principale strumento di pianificazione e gestione dei territori umidi nei contesti urbani, essenziale per vincere la sfida di far coesistere attività umane e tutela degli ambienti naturali. Per giovedì 14 è invece prevista la sessione di lavori presso l’hotel Progresso dove alle 12,30 è in programma la conferenza stampa di presentazione dei risultati del meeting.
La “due giorni” internazionale sarà preceduta martedì 12 novembre, sempre all’hotel Progresso, dal terzo laboratorio territoriale del progetto CREW: per la terza volta si incontreranno gli attori istituzionali (dalle forze dell’ordine agli enti pubblici) e gli stakeholder territoriali (associazioni ambientaliste) che insieme, individuando punti di forza e di debolezza di una gestione integrata di un’area umida, contribuiranno a definire il Piano d’Azione del Contratto di area umida della Sentina.
On 13th and 14th November, the city of San Benedetto del Tronto will host the third meeting for project CREW, which stands for “Coordinated Wetland management in Italy-Croatia cross border region”. The project, withing the EU programme “Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia”, aims at ensuring a greater coordination among different levels of urban planning and the bodies responsible for the given wetlands in both countries facing the Adriatic sea.
The project partners that will meet in San Benedetto have wetlands worth of being protected within the urban context from which they arise. These partners are the Croatian counties of Zadar and Dubrovnik, UTI Riviera Bassa Friulana, Province of Barletta- Andria- Trani and the city of San Benedetto del Tronto with its regional nature reserve Sentina. The project is being managed by the University IUAV of Venice, the leading partner.
The meeting is scheduled to start on Wednesday, November 13th, with a study visit of guest delegations in Verrucchio, Romagna region, where they will learn about the experience of Marecchia river contract, the main tool for wetland areas planning and management in urban contexts, essential to overcome the challenge of coexisting human activities and protection of natural environments. On Thursday 14th there will be a work session at hotel Progresso, where is scheduled a press conference to disclose the results of the meeting at 12.30.
The international "two days" will be preceded by the third territorial laboratory of the CREW project at hotel Progresso, on Tuesday 12th November. For the third time, institutional actors- from law enforcement bodies to public authorities- and territorial stakeholders- environmental associations- will meet, and by identifying strengths and weaknesses of an integrated management of a wetland, together they will contribute to defining the Action Plan of the wetland contract of Sentina.
