''To see through is not to see into''
"To
see through is not to see into"
is the title given to this work in bronze by the American artist Mark
Kostabi. The humanoid with an open
window on his
heart is the symbol of a humanity which risks uniformity, anonymity, but which, nevertheless, does not renounce its own
absolute uniqueness. So the human being opens his heart to the world,
invites neighbors
to look deep inside everyone, while the branch with leaves in his
hand is the symbol of life and of the hope that never dies.
Mark
Kostabi wanted to unveil his monument for the town in 1998 while he was playing,
at the same time, in an outdoor concert, right in the pedestrian
zone where the sculpture is standing. In fact, Kostabi, beside being an appreciated painter, he's
also a music composer and has performed many recordings around the
world.
