This monument is dedicated to the memory of General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, created by the artist Marcello Sgattoni for the Municipality and located in the square which is also entitled to the Carabinieri General, assassinated by the mafia in 1982 and over which the Palace of Justice is looking.

The monument, representing a flame, symbol of the Force, is 2 m. high, 2.85 wide and 13.5 tons heavy. The image is formed by a steel core covered by cast bronze on which 600 river stones, chosen one by one by Sgattoni who also cut and shaped them into crying mouths, are set.

In fact "... and the stone cried out" is the title given to it by the artist himself who was inspired by St.Luca's Gospel: "If you don't say the truth the stones will cry". It is the search for truth, but also the need for freedom and justice in the name of which Dalla Chiesa gave his own life.
