Museum of the sea

The “Museo del Mare” of San Benedetto del Tronto is more than just a museum: composed by multiple exhibition areas, it is an ever expanding network celebrating the culture and history of the Adriatic Sea. Most of the exhibits are located inside the historical fish market building, part of which is still used for activities related to the fishing industry. Other museum sections can be found in charming and beautiful locations: the MAM, an open-air exhibit of contemporary art, is located on the south pier promenade, while the Art Gallery of the Sea was established inside a nineteenth century palace in the Old Town district.
